The Office of Orientation and Student Transitions is responsible for the planning, coordination and implementation of all phases of Fall Welcome Week, Spring and Summer Orientation, Parent Programs, including Parent Family Weekend, the NOLA Experience, Phi Eta Sigma - the Freshmen Honor Society and T2 - the Sophomore Year Program.
It is the goal of the Office of Orientation and Student Transitions to welcome new students and their families to campus, connect them to Tulane in a positive way, and give them the information necessary for a successful transition to university life.
It is with this goal in mind that we welcome you to Tulane University. We will strive to meet the needs of our students, both academically and socially.

Summer Orientation
June 2008
Summer Orientation is an opportunity for 200 students per session (on a first-come, first-served basis) to spend a night in a residence hall, get their ID card made, meet with academic advisors, register for classes and connect with other new students and the university for one and a half days. August 17-22, 2008
The NOLA Experience is a program that provides 100 incoming Tulane students with a unique introduction to both the New Orleans and Tulane communities through separate tracks - Down and Dirty in the Big Easy , Explore Louisiana Outdoor Adventure, A "Helluva Hullabaloo", N'awlins Native Style and Newcomb and the City. All tracks include a camping trip, a sampling of New Orleans cuisine, Cajun dance lessons, community service and some surprises!

Fall Welcome Week
August 23-26, 2008
The first day of Fall Welcome Week includes move-in at the residence halls, campus services, including banking, card services, dining and meal plans, financial aid, telecommunication and others, social events, such as the New Student Welcome, the President's Convocation and the President's Picnic and Parent as Partners programs for parents and families.
Days two through four follow up with activities like campus tours of important offices and services, a sampling of physical fitness activities available at the Reily Student Recreation Center's Reily Rocks , academic advising and testing, the Riverboat Cruise and more.

Parent as Partners
August 23-26, 2008
During Fall Welcome Week there are sessions for parents called Parents as Partners. These sessions are designed to give parents and families the important
information to help them transition their student to university life. Offices from all over campus participate, giving out information about safety, financial aid, accounts receivable, housing, Greek life, and educational resources and counseling, to list a few.

Parent/Family Weekend
October 3-5, 2008
Parent Family Weekend is held every fall, in conjunction with Homecoming. It is an opportunity for parents and families to take part in activities on campus, enjoy New Orleans food, music and culture, take part in a spirited pep rally and enjoy the Homecoming football game and events.

Spring Orientation
January 11, 2009
Spring Orientation is mini version of the summer process, designed for transfer students, coming to Tulane from other universities for the spring semester and first time freshmen as well. We work very hard to make the students' transition to Tulane as seamless as possible, providing academic advising support, residence hall move-in and an opportunity to meet other new students.

Phi Eta Sigma - The Freshman Honor Society
Phi Eta Sigma was founded by three distinguished Phi Beta Kappa members, professors, and administrators at the University of Illinois on March 22, 1923, to encourage and recognize high scholastic achievement among members of the freshman classes. Phi Eta Sigma is the third most senior member of the Association of College Honor Societies.
The offer of membership to Phi Eta Sigma is the highest academic honor attainable by first year students on the Tulane campus.
